How to use Meta Disposition Tag on your website? This meta tag is a so-called 'application handler'. It facilitates the use of the extension of a file. Examples are the well known .doc extension for a Word document or .xls extension for a spreadsheet.

This meta tag has no influence on your ranking with the search engines. But by displaying your pages correctly in different browsers is important to your customers so it will influence how customers will respond and validate your website.

An example of the meta tag HTTP-EQUIV CONTENT-DISPOSITION

Add the following meta tag in the source of your webpage. The difference in spelling at the end of the tag is either you use " /> = XML or "> = HTML.

You can use the following values:

filename-parm := "filename" "=" value creation-date-parm := "creation-date" "=" quoted-date-time modification-date-parm := "modification-date" "=" quoted-date-time read-date-parm := "read-date" "=" quoted-date-time size-parm := "size" "=" 1-number quoted-date-time := quoted-string conform the RFC822

Where should you add this content-disposition tag?

You may add this meta tag to all of your webpages, so not only on the first index page. Make sure that on every page relevant meta tags are added. Add keywords and phrases that are relevant and correspond to the text and the language on that specific page. It might be a lot of work to add specific meta tags to each page but you will notice in time that it works!
